Quick Project: Art Nouveau Curtain

Here’s a little project that’s been in my head for years. Our bathroom curtains are red velveteen – an homage to the theatre, and the blank white panel behind needed a little something. Our apartment building is from 1912 so Art Nouveau suits perfectly. The design is from a book I received as a gift some time ago. I traced it in pencil first and then hand painted it using screen printing inks. In some areas the ink was watered down to give an uneven stained glass effect. I’m quite pleased with my afternoon’s worth of work, and the blue flowers match the 100 year old tiles we just uncovered on the floor.

Now back to cleaning!
